Hot pink kitchen paint sample

It is true that kitchen is one of the most used rooms in your home, at least I can say so, as that is where all cooking, dish washing and laundry happens. I thought my kitchen looks a bit dated, and I was wondering what action I could take to make it look more inviting and alive.

Total renovating is out of question as I am renting, and as the flooring is in good condition and the kitchen units still relatively new (although I find the beige colour makes the space look like it is seriously missing something). I always like some spice in my soup and the same is with my interior, I decided to try painting the cupboard doors to change the overall look of my kitchen. Before of course I asked my landlord if this was okay, and to my surprise it was all fine as long as I covered the cost of the paint and work myself and did not spill the paint.

So, gone is the boring tame beige, and welcome the bright pink! I think it now looks very good in the spring light and really has liven up the room. I was lucky that the cupboard doors were the kind of material that did let me paint them, as this is not always the case. I did some other changes as well, I did buy a long black and white striped carpet to cover the floor (plus it is nice for your feet to step on).

As you can see my colour choice was quite quirky, but it works and makes my cooking much more enjoyable! It also works like a boost of energy in a grey morning filling me with feeling of happiness. If you like to give a similar transformation a try, but are not sure if the colour is right, you could try painting only the inside of the cupboard and at least then you get to see the colour when opening the doors!
