The fact that a room is small doesn’t mean you can’t do anything about it. If you have very little space in your entry it is better to give up the idea to have everything there you wanted. It is more important to make the space work and look welcoming. When you are missing space in the entry, you can still try to make it look that little extra special. In many homes the entry is narrow and missing light with lots of shoes piled on the floor and rack full of coats. Keeping the space this way only makes the space look very cluttered and gloomy, why don’t you make it something different?

A small space is a quick project to prepare, and you could really use your adventurous ideas to make everyone entering your home to feel special and welcome. Have a look at your entry, compare how it looks against your overall interior. Is it being too modest and less colourful than rest of your home? Why not to make it an interesting room with importance. Think of your entrance like the first impression of your home, so make it as pleasant as you can.

Start by removing everything that looks uncomfortable, be it old stickers on the wall, old newspapers or the slanted coat rack. Everything must go out. Assess how best to accommodate more light into the space. The light switch should be within easy reach when accessing the corridor and good lighting should be provided for a safe and comfortable ambiance.

Make the entry feel as friendly and welcoming as possible, to greet everyone entering your home. Keep the air fresh making sure there is enough ventilation and place fresh flowers or a couple healthy plants if possible. Wall mounted mirror should be installed in every entrance, for any last minute grooming. Mirrors work like miracles in small space making it feel more spacious.

Be brave when selecting colour for your foyer. Pale tones don’t help to turn your narrow space into a big one, instead you should try something more impressing. Having a bespoke wallpaper made would be perfect, as you can be fine just using a small amount of it. Use a mural or stencilling technique onto the wall to create feeling of an other dimension. Adding a collage of photographs or mounting miniature collectables onto the walls is a great way to personalize the space.
